Welcome to the Torrisholme Church of the Ascension Rambling Club website

The purpose of the Club is to promote fellwalking and a love and respect for the countryside.

We walk every alternate Saturday.

New Members are always welcome - please e-mail the Club Secretary for details:

Our first walks from the Winter Programme 2014/15:

Saturday 25th October 2014

Our next walks will be on a full day, finishing at Grassington on Saturday 25th October 2014.
The ‘A’ walk will be led by Linda Mills and starts at Sandy Beck on the Grassington road near Rylstone, ascending to the Norton Tower ruins and up to the Rylstone memorial cross on Rylstone Fell.  We then take the moorland path to the Upper Bardon Reservoir where we walk along its causeway to Pitshaw Top and around Thorpe Fell.  We descend into Thorpe where we cross the Suspension Bridge to pick up the Dales Way which follows the River Wharfe into Grassington.  11 miles and 1700 ft.
The 'B' walk will be led by Amanda and Carol and is a linear walk following the Dales Way from Kettlewell to Grassington,  starting from the NCP car park at Kettlewell.  There a number of stiles and one moderate ascent  before the walk levels out to a fairly easy walk. The weather will determine if the magnificent views are shown off to best effect as we walk though ancient pastures and limestone scars. As we approach Grassington the route joins an enclosed track and is approximately 7 miles.
The 'C' walk will be led by Elsie Dowthwaite and is a circular starting from the centre of Grassington walking up the main street and onto High Lane.  Here there are extensive panoramic views of the Yorkshire Dales.  We then walk through fields to Hebden where we have lunch at the suspension bridge before following the river Wharfe into Grassington via the Dales Way, visiting Linton Falls and Church.  There are a couple of stiles and after the initial walk up the main street the walk is mostly flat.  Approximately 5 miles.

Non-walkers are always welcome to book on the coach.
