Our first walks from the Winter Programme:

Saturday 29th October 2016

Our last walks from the summer programme will be on a half day, finishing at Staveley on Saturday 29th October 2016.
The ‘A’' walk will be led by Alan Saunders starting from Staveley village crossing Barley Bridge to Littlewood and Piked How then down to Birk Feld, passing Frost Hole to make our way up the fell to Potter Tarn and onward to our lunch stop just before Gurnal Dubs.   We then walk to Low Taggleshaw and take the path to Dirk Rigg before descending through fields to Potter Fell Road.  We take the quiet road a short way to Gilpin Bank then across to Braban House and Laithwaite Farm before joining the road down to Bowston and crossing the bridge to pick up the Dales Way which follows the river past Cowan Head to Sandyhill to join the road into Staveley.   Excellent views (some wet and muddy bits) overall distance just over 8 miles, maximum height 1100ft and total cummulative ascents over the walk of 1700ft.
The 'B' walk will be led by David Hartley and starts from Windermere train station car park walking on the outskirts of Windermere and over the railway line to eventually go onto the fell, we climb School Knot and Grandsire then dropping down onto the Dales way we continue to New Hall, Ash's Lane and on to Staveley. Fantastic Views looking North over Lake Windermere and the central hills of the Lake district, later we go through very pretty farming country. 7 miles, 1,000 ft and two Wainwrights.
The ’C’ walk will be led by Audrey and Lynne and is a circular starting from The Duke William Pub, going through fields, woods, quiet roads and by the river to Cowan Head before taking the Dales Way back to Staveley. About 5 miles with just a few stiles.
