|Our next walks from the Summer Programme 2015:
Saturday 13th June 2015
Our next walks from the summer programme will be on a half day, finishing at Orton on Saturday 13th June 2015.
The ‘A’ walk will be led by Tom Hodgson and starts at Maulds Meaburn, following a quiet lane to Low Bridge, then fields and a track through Wyegill Plantation. Turning south we take a path to Oddendale, then onto the open fell to the cairn on Crosby Ravensworth Fell. From here we make our way to Bousfield then back into Orton. 9 miles and approx 800ft.
The "B" walk will be led by John & Linda Mountford and starts from Maulds Meaburn village walking in a north westerly direction through woods and fields before turning south to pass Crake Trees Farm and into the lovely village of Crosby Ravensworth. We then cross Lyvennet Beck by the stepping stones and follow the beck for some distance before rising to Crosby Lodge Farm and through fields to the boundary wall of moorlands. The walk gradually climbs over the moorland, with good views of Orton at the top before descending through farm fields onto Orton. Distance: 6.6 miles with a total ascent of 958 ft.
The ’C’ walk will be led by Anne Lyons and is a circular from Orton, walking mainly through fields and on tracks. There are some difficult stiles, but the ground is mostly flat. 4½ miles.
Non-walkers are always welcome to book on the coach if there are spaces.

What a brilliant holiday we had in Torquay. The weather was warm and sunny, and Torquay is a lovely place with lots for everyone to do whether walking or not. The hotel and food were very good and our meal on the way home at the Toby Carvery was excellent.
Your Committee are now meeting to discuss next year's walking holiday, so watch this space ...
