Our next walks from the Summer Programme 2015:

Saturday 5th September 2015

Our next walks from the summer programme will be on a half day, finishing at Whittle-le-Woods on Saturday 5th September 2015.
The ‘A’ walk will be led by Linda Mills and starts from the car park at Botany Bay, walking along the canal before crossing the M61 to make our way through fields to Healey Nab for splendid views across Chorley and descending to the end of Anglezarke reservoir. We cross the bridge and walk up to White Coppice and ascend to Heapey Moor where we join the bridleway which takes us across the moor to the Wheelton Plantation, before crossing under the disused railway line to Brinscall Hall. We follow fields and paths to Higher Wheelton where we cross the golf course before joining the Leeds/Liverpool canal to walk back to Botany Bay. 9½ miles and just over 1,000 ft.
The "B" walk will be led by Norma Nicholls and is a circular starting at the Premier Inn, which is on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, going south for a short distance on the canal, then on paths and lanes up to White House, and Grey Heights, through woods and down to the end of Anglezarke reservoir, crossing the bridge and turning left up to White Coppice through fields onto Heapey, and returning on the Blackburn main road. 7 miles and 300ft accent.
The ’C’ walk will be led by Alan Whittaker and is a circular walk starting from near Botany Bay, walking along the Leeds/Liverpool canal past Botany Bay and then on well worn paths under the disused Blackburn Chorley railway with a steady climb up to Heapey Church with views over the West Pennine Moors. We then walk on tarmac into Wheelton village before returning to the Leeds/Liverpool canal, walking past a number of locks in close proximity, made more interesting if a boat is using them. 4 miles and 200 feet of ascent with very few stiles.

Non-walkers are always welcome to book on the coach if there are spaces.  Come and shop at Botany Bay and stroll along the canal.
