Our next walks from the Summer Programme:

Saturday 30th September 2017

Our next walks from the summer programme will be on a half day, finishing at Silverdale on Saturday 30th September 2017.
The ‘A’ walk will be led by Alan Saunders and Ginny Watts and starts at the triangle in Yealand Redmayne, walking a wooded path towards Yealand Conyers with a brief visit to Summer-House Hill to take in the views. We then cross fields in a south-westerly direction to ascend Warton Crag. At the fire beacon we head west to descend Occupation Lane, followed by a short road walk to Jenny Brown's Point. In Silverdale we scramble a 30ft cliff face (very easy plenty of hand and foot holds) and proceed through woods and fields to the centre of Silverdale. A very pleasant 8.2 miles with a total ascent of 1,067ft - the highest point being 528ft.
The ‘B’ walk will be led by  Linda Mountford and is a linear starting at Yealand Redmayne walking south through Cringlebarrow & Deepdale Woods, turning North West to the highest point of the walk at 410 feet to enjoy views over Leighton Hall and surrounding countryside. The walk continues descending, passing Leighton Hall and Leighton Hall Farm, then on through Grisedale and the edge of Leighton Moss Nature Reserve. We have permission to continue the walk through the RSPB Nature Reserve, exiting and turning right at the junction passing the railway station at Yealand Conyers before continuing over the Golf Course through fields and Scout Wood, descending to the shore via Heald Brow. We walk along the shore line to Jenny Brown’s Point and back into Silverdale. 7½ miles with an accumulative ascent of 759ft.
The ’C’ walk will be led by Val and Brian Townson  and is a circular walk starting from Silverdale taking the path to Woodwell and along Woodwell Cliff to the Green, crossing the road we go through fields to Eaves Wood with a gradual climb through the wood to Holgates caravan park. From there we make our way to Arnside Tower climb up through Arnside Knott wood taking a path left through Heathwaite to pass Hollins Farm and across fields back to the caravan park followed by a short road walk to Silverdale Cove and over fields back to Silverdale. 5 miles with an accumulative ascent of 500ft.
