Our next walks from the Summer Programme:

Saturday 22nd July 2017

Our next walks from the summer programme will be on a full day, finishing at Keswick on Saturday 22nd July 2017.
The ‘A’ walk will be led by David Hartley and starts from the Village of Threlkeld, going under the A66 and on to Burns Farm, then we climb Low Rigg going west crossing beautiful farm land we cross the A591, taking a steep ascent to Lady's Rake above Walla Crag and down to Ashness Bridge, we cross the Borrowdale Road to go through Strutta Wood and back along the shore of Derwent water. 9 miles and 1900ft.
The ‘B’ walk will be led by Madge & Ray Salisbury and starts from the Lodore Hotel, walking over the “boards” at the head of Derwent Water to Manesty. Ascending the path towards Hause Gate for about 350 yard we then branch right. This path follows under Cat Bells, but about 400 feet above the lake, giving superb views to the east and north. After a couple of miles the cattle grid at the north end of Cat Bells is reached and shortly after the Cumbria Way is joined, followed by Portinscale and on into Keswick.   6 miles and 800 feet.
The ’C’ walk will be led by Lynne and Audrey and is a circular starting at Booths walking through the town on to Station Road, passing the old railway station.   After crossing a busy road we make our way up a fairly steep quiet road to Castlerigg Stone Circle, then go through several fields and woods, crossing back over the road onto a track by the river, with lovely views of the lake and continuing back down the track into Keswick, passing Annie's Pantry. About 4 miles and no stiles.
