Saturday 8th August 2015
Our next walks from the summer programme will be on a half day, finishing at Barrows Green on Saturday 8th August 2015.
The ‘A’ walk will be led by Linda Mills and starts on Lancaster canal at junction 36 of the M6, walking along the canal to Oldhall Bridge near Crooklands then through fields towards Endmoor and on to Summerlands, crossing the A65 and through fields to Birkrigg High Park and Halfpenny to pick up St Sunday’s Beck before continuing to Blease Hall and Strickley Bridge. A roadwalk towards Oxenholme before turning south to climb and walk along the ridge of The Helm before descending to Helm End and into Barrows Green. 9 miles with an ascent of 1,044 ft.
The "B" walk will be led by Karen Dixon and is a circular from Barrows Green heading firstly up towards Natland and then onto the disused canal at Lark Rig Hall bridge. Following the canal down to Sedgwick then Cross Well Heads Plantation onto Staunton where we pick up the canal again. Then we head back north up to Skettlegill and on to Stainton and back to Barrows Green. Approx 7½ miles and undulating!!..
The ’C’ walk will be led by Carol and Amanda and is a linear country walk, starting at Endmoor and finishing at Barrows Green. The first half of the walk being flat and relatively easy, the second half a little harder and undulating. We walk through fields, pasturelands and on lanes until we reach a beck, then follow fields, lanes and paths - some a little muddy to Strang and then up to Bleasdale Wood before veering off down through fields and pasturelands to the Punch Bowl at Barrows Green. 4½ miles with 7 stiles.
Non-walkers are always welcome to book on the coach if there are spaces.
PICKUP TIME: 11am from Torrisholme Church of the Ascension, Torrisholme.
(Pickups commence from Heysham Towers at 10.45am)

Our next walking weekend will be at Bournemouth. This will be a 5 day holiday (Sat to Wed) and the venue is the Devon Towers Hotel in Bournemouth.
The approximate cost of the weekend is £225 pp and a deposit of £40 pp, made payable to Torrisholme Rambling Club is required now. Linda Mountford (Treasurer) will be taking booking deposits, commencing now. 3-10 Oct - Holiday to Puerto Pollensa in Majorca
At the AGM on Wednesday 25th February, it was voted unanimously to change the name of the Club to "Torrisholme Rambling Club". It was also voted unanimously to elect Derek Wood as President of the Club and dispense with the position of Vice President.
This was after notifying Club Members and consultations with the Vicar (former President) and Derek Wood (former Vice President).
